What is the most bizarre counsel you received as a JW, from a JW?
by Funchback inthere were many addressed to me.
for example, i once had a sister tell me i was gambling because i liked playing skill crane (the machine where you have to try to pick up prizes like stuffed animals) at the arcade.
i then fired back a her: "you saw the r-rated movie 'backdraft.

I was told by an elder that I should not be watching zombie movies because they used live people to play the part of the dead. -

What language was Jesus most at home with?
by fulltimestudent inour former loving brothers and sisters have been instructed to think that, jesus likely spoke a form of hebrew and a form of aramaic.
(aid to bible understanding-103-105).
of course, there is no way to demonstrate the truth of that assertion or any other assertion about the languages that the common people of the land spoke.

Only the intellectual elite, like scholars, who could afford a broad education are likely to have spoken Greek. -

Elusive happiness teaches a hidden truth!
by iconoclastic inmany seek happiness externally and many a time assign others the possession of their happiness.
when they derive a sort of happiness from external sources, they dont feel satisfied, hence jump to the next and then to the next .... in contrast, jesus said gods kingdom (or real happiness) is within (entos) you.
this cannot be misinterpreted as jesus being the king of the kingdom was amidst them as jws do.

"He/She should be sharing his pearls of wisdom with active engaged JW's who have been conditioned, trained and are willing not to think."
He wouldn't last a minute on a JW website. Only here would he be put up with.

James Mixon:
Plenty of Americans- many of whom are anything but ignorant of the scriptures of their traditions-are liberal Christians or liberal Jews, so it's not hard to find defense of the liberal versions of those faiths.
Both sides are willfully ignorant of their scriptures. Liberals for obvious reasons and conservatives when it comes to their own scriptures' relative benevolence to the poor.
But the idea that there is no authentic liberal Islam is fairly widespread in this country.
The idea yes, but the reality is that every organization or group with a few thousand or more members along with multiple generations from it's founding automatically fall into liberal, moderate and conservative camps. This is most probably due to psychological reasons.
"Islam will dominate the world", that's what I'm afraid of.
They can't.

"I do believe Islam conflicts with constitution. Your thoughts."
So does the Old Testament. Does that mean that an Orthodox Jew or Christian that keeps referring to Judeo-Christian values should not be President?
I believe that it would be all right for a liberal Muslim to be President to the same extent as a liberal Jew because both do not abide by their own scriptures and are actually much closer to Secular Humanist values.

The Bible was written in four languages. Name all four and the two books which were both written using two.
Hebrew, Aramaic and Koine Greek. Don't know about a fourth one.
As for the books portions of Daniel were written in Aramaic while the rest in, I assume, Hebrew. Matthew was also written in Aramaic.
Which book of the New Testament did Martin Luther want removed from the New Testament canon?
Revelation.
The earliest copies of the Septuagint did not have the Tetragrammaton in them. What appeared instead?
Kurios which means Lord.

Where did they understood the anointed ones would be before the "great crowd" "revelation"?
by paradisebeauty inthis is a question on old doctrine of jw's.
before they came up with the "great crowd" "revelation", where did they preached that the anointed ones will be?
because if they preached it will be in heaven, how did they understood that the prophecies about the earth will be fulfilled?

From the practically incoherent book The Finished Mystery, a commentary on the Book of Revelation and a compilation of Charles Russell's teachings after he died, page 134*:
7:9. After this, I beheld, and lo, a great multitude.— When the Apostle tells us In 2 John 8, "Look to yourselves that ye lose not those things which we have wrought, but that ye receive a full reward," he Is teaching that a Heavenly reward may be gained that is not as full as If a course more pleasing to the Heavenly Father Is pursued.
Instead of teaching that the saved of our race will all be saved to the same thing, the Scriptures show two degrees or kinds of Heavenly salvation, and two degrees or kinds of earthly salvation. In the second chapter of Genesis the stream which went forth from the Garden of Eden was divided Into four parts. This is a Scriptural recognition of the fact that from Adam, the original fountain of life, will flow four streams: The Little Flock, who are to sit down with Christ In His Throne; the Great Company, who are to stand before the Throne, having the palms of martyrdom but without the crowns of glory; the Ancient Worthies, the Jewish fathers, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Daniel, etc., who are to be made princes in all the earth; and the world of mankind, who will constitute the subjects of the Kingdom over which the Ancient Worthies will rule. The same lesson Is taught in the division of the Levltes into four camps, each located on a different side of the Tabernacle. (Num. 3:15; F128, 129.) It Is also taught In the Apostle's statement In 2 Tim. 2:20, that In God's great House there will ultimately be found four classes of vessels to His praise.
*Note: If you find a PDF of The Finished Mystery use the scripture cited in Revelation as a guide instead of page numbers as the numbers differ in different versions of the book.
